Allmakes 4x4 is pleased to announce that we have successfully switched on the Portal Lite today, - a new service which allows you to access our Trade Portal at any time and from anywhere in the world.

For our Trade Portal users, there was a known Portal "Blackout" period in the past between the hours of 11pm and 3am (GMT-BST) every day. During that period, the Trade Portal went off-line to carry out the overnight processes. But this also had a knock-on effect on our customers from other continents because they wouldn’t be able to check stock and place orders with us during that period.

Now thanks to the new Portal Lite service, which will take over from the usual Trade Portal service between the “Blackout” hours, we can offer our customers an online service as close to 24 hours a day as is currently possible.

How Does Portal Lite Work?

Portal Lite is available within 5 minutes of the Trade Portal going offline. This is to allow the data to be prepared for Portal Lite.

Portal Lite will start checking whether the usual Trade Portal service is back online at 3am. And usual Trade Portal service is resumed after this (within about 4 seconds)

Will I be able to place an order?

Yes.
However, Portal Lite will only allow users to search against part numbers that are stock items. Buy-In items will not be available currently.

Please Note: Portal Lite orders will be stored until the usual Trade Portal service resumes. Therefore, no order numbers are given to the customer at the point of checkout, however, an order confirmation will be presented to you and the stock for your order will be allocated so that no other order can claim it.

Will I be able to view my account information?

Portal Lite will NOT allow customers to view their accounts information. This is a function of the standard Trade Portal only.

Will it change the way I normally log in to the Allmakes 4x4 Trade Portal?

No.
Portal Lite has the same interface as the Trade Portal and will show Part Numbers, List Prices, Images, and Availability. It allows you to create a basket and place an order.

How can I be sure that my order has been placed?

An email will be sent to the corresponding customer department at the point at which an order is placed. In the event of a communications failure between Portal Lite and our Trade Portal, the order details are still retained for manual processing. This ensures that we don’t miss any of your orders.

I use Allmakes Shadow to place orders, can I use it during the “Blackout” period?

Yes. Portal Lite will allow Allmakes Shadow to work during these times, but the functionality in Shadow is also reduced in the same way as Portal Lite.
